ComiXology Attains 180 Million Digital Comic Downloads

Online digital comic distributor ComiXology has announced today that they have surpassed over 180 million downloads. This is tremendous growth as they only hit the 100 million mark nine months ago. The last calender year has been a year of growth for the comics company. January saw the opening of Paris-based comiXology Europe, the company’s first overseas office, which is spearheading international language content acquisition across Europe. French language navigation, a precursor to full French localization, was also added to comiXology’s iOS apps last month. France does not get much attention internationally, but is home to a ravenous base of comic book fans, who account for a $700 million annual market – roughly on par with the U.S. market.
